This year Mercedes-Benz began small-scale production of Pure Electric City Truck Urban eTruck, which was delivered to several customers in Europe. The maximum total weight of these vehicles is 25 tons, the effective load is 12.8 tons, the range is about 200 kilometers, suitable for urban distribution.

Mercedes-Benz truck executives said the car attracted a lot of customers'attention after its debut at the International Commercial Auto Show last September, and the company is working with about 20 potential customers in the waste disposal, food and logistics industries.

In fact, Mercedes-Benz is going to use this pure electric Urban eTruck for field testing, and real mass production is not expected to start until 2020.

There are several levels of test vehicle, from 18 tons to 25 tons, will be fitted with cargo compartment, flat and refrigerated compartment. The 12-month delivery period will be supported by Mercedes-Benz Truck Road Surveying Department, and the usage and application areas will be recorded, compared with the original expectations, and further improved programs will be obtained.

 

Mercedes Benz Urban eTruck is part of the Daimler truck integrated electric plan. Daimler's Fusang eCanter, a light-duty electric truck line, will also be operational this year, with about 150 vehicles to be delivered to specific customers in Europe, Japan and the United States. As a result, Daimler has built several levels of electric trucks around the world.

 

From 1997 to 2025, Daimler Truck expects battery power density to rise 2.5 times, from 80 Wh to 200 Wh per kilogram, and battery costs to fall from 500 Euros per kilowatt-hour to 200 Euros per kilowatt-hour.
